Roy W Butterfield building memories from Sept. 22, 1925 ‚ May 4, 2015. Born to Edna Maxwell and David Butterfield in Murray, UT. Roy grew up with his sisters, Dorothy (Ellis) and Donna (Zive), and brother Elwin. He attended Granite High School through 10th grade then joined the Navy in 1943. He served on the U.S.S. Lake, a destroyer escort 301, until he was discharged in 1946. He married Ailene Caldwell in Ely, NV in 1947 and they enjoyed every minute of their marriage until her death in 2011. Together they raised daughter, Karen (Stanworth), in the Salt Lake area. Roy worked as a general contractor building and remodeling homes and creating places for memories to be built.
Survived by daughter, Karen; brother, Elwin; grandchildren, Debbie Weeks, Craig Stanworth, Cheri (David) Carroll; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jessica and Michela Weeks, Nathan, Brandon, Alex and Emily Carroll. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Ailene; sisters, Dorothy and Donna; son-in-law, Melvin.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 So.) in Sandy. Visitation will precede the service from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m
