Matthew James Simmons

1983 ~ 2017

Matthew James Simmons, 33 years old, passed away in his sleep on December 2, 2017 at his home in Bluffdale, Utah. The cause of death is unknown. Matt had an adoring wife, Lara, and three children: James (4 years old), Thomas (2 years old), and Ella (3 months). Matt and Lara were married in the LDS Washington, D.C. temple on September 1, 2007.

Matt was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 19, 1983 to Royce Simmons and Elizabeth (Bibi) Yauchuczek. As a native Texan, he was a huge Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. He grew up playing sports and was coached by his father. Matt's favorite memories growing up were pitching during his big games. He said he had a wicked slider.

Matt attended college at the University of Utah where he met his awesome wife at a bus stop on campus. They dated for four years and were married for 10 years. These were the best years of his life. Matt was a very proud father and husband. He loved chasing his two boys around the house and listening to them laugh.

At the time of his death, Matt worked at iDrive Logistics as the Vice President of Marketing where he had the opportunity to be creative. He loved finding clever ways to market their products and developed many close friendships while he was there.

Matt could always make people laugh. He was able to cajole his way out of speeding tickets all the time. His smile, innocent look, and witty comments saved him a lot of money.

Some of his favorite things are joking around with his wife, playing with his children, hiking with his brother, calling his sisters when he was driving home from work, waking people up before the crack of dawn to go play, finding special sauces for his food, dancing ridiculously, and singing classic rock songs at the top of his lungs. He loved all the holidays, especially Christmas.

Matt is survived by his wife, Lara and their three children, James, Thomas and Ella, as well as his father, Royce Simmons, mother, Bibi Simon, and siblings, Christina Paul, Grace Simmons, and Eli Simmons.

A celebration of Matt\s life will be held at Noon on December 9, 2017 at 15399 S. Noell Nelson Drive, Bluffdale, UT. A luncheon for family and friends will immediately follow.
