Carol Naylor Harker Petersen

1929 ~ 2015

Carol Naylor Harker Petersen was born July 15, 1929 in Salt Lake City at her home located at 1297 E 4th Avenue. The youngest of five children born to Melvin Delmarre and Ruth Godbe Naylor. Carol was a great great granddaughter of Brigham Young and was also related to William Clayton. She attended Uintah grade school, Roosevelt Jr. High, East High school and one year at the University of Utah. She married Calvin H. Harker on October 16, 1947 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Six children were born to this union. In 1996 Carol married Joey F. Petersen in the Jordan River Temple. She was an active member of the L. D. S. church and held many callings throughout the years. She loved to sing and was a member of the Utah Chorale and the West Valley Chorale. She was an excellent seamstress spending many countless hours making clothing for her family. She was a great cook and homemaker and was famous for her cinnamon rolls. She was very artistic and creative and always had a project in the works.

Survived by son, Brent N. Harker (Debbie) of Midway; daughter Shelley Child (John) of Sandy; daughter Laurie Castleberry (Rick) Aurora, CO; daughter Leslie Larsen (Neil) of Littleton, CO; son Brian N. Harker. Preceded in death by son Calvin H. Harker Jr. Also survived by, step children Brian and Jackie Petersen of Taylorsville; Mark Petersen of Oakland, CA; Jeffery and Jeanne Petersen of Salt Lake City and Eric and Jackie Petersen of So Jordan, Utah. She was a proud grandmother of 28 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Mel and Larry, sisters Helen Jane and Marilyn.

A viewing will be held Saturday May 9th from 10 to 11:45 am followed by a funeral service 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary on 260 E. South Temple in SLC, Ut. Interment at the Salt Lake Cemetery immediately following the service.
