Susan Kay Sullivan Hopkins

1951 ~ 2020

Susan Kay Sullivan Hopkins, 69, returned to her loving Heavenly Father on June 17, 2020. Sue was born in Vincennes, Indiana on January 1, 1951, to Donald David Sullivan and Juanita Alfrieda White Sullivan. Sue always had a zest for education. She graduated from Lincoln High and attended Indiana State, as well as Brigham Young University. She moved to Utah to attend BYU and worked at the Genealogy Vaults. She married Donald Preston Hopkins in 1972 and started their family of four children. Sue loved to learn and had a love of the outdoors, and many skills and hobbies. She especially loved time with family and holidays. Sue gave much of her time volunteering through her Church, Scouting, and Army Family Support Group. Her care for others extended everywhere she went, as she was able to talk with anyone and make friends wherever she went in life. From our mother, we have learned to love and to enjoy the small details of life. She always enjoyed the journey and found beauty along the way. She battled kidney failure for many years, and ultimately succumbed to Covid.

Sue was reunited with her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Hopkins Waddell (Kell) and parents, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and their other children: Thomas Hopkins (Trenya), Alice Hopkins Miller (Roy), and Steven Hopkins, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and her brother, John L Sullivan.

Her family would like to thank Intermountain Dialysis Services for providing excellent care for six years and Intermountain Medical Center, ICU team for giving Sue great care and respect during the last days of her life.
