Carl J McReavy

1951 ~ 2019

Carl J. McReavy has embarked on his next great adventure.

Born March 8, 1951 to Edna and Melvin \"Mac\" McReavy in Ogden, Utah. He learned his great work ethic from his father and his love of learning and caring for his family from his mother. He is survived by his mother Edna, his siblings Patricia (John Roy) Drummond, Pauline McReavy, Keith Sheldonport and his children Jennifer (Brent) Wilhite, Ryan (Erin), Tim (Tiffany) and Josh (Brittney).

He loved his family, the outdoors, and the spotlight! Always quick with a joke or a story from his life, he captivated and entertained everyone in his presence as a master storyteller.

Family was his pride and joy, and he absolutely loved being a grandpa. Carl was proud of the many accomplishments of his four children and made sure everyone knew it. Get comfortable when you hear him start talking about what they\ve been up to lately, because it will take a while.

Next to family, his second favorite love was adventure. Carl\s gypsy heart led him all over the world as he meticulously planned each detail and researched the culture of his next destination. He loved to travel the world and looked forward to the rush of excitement whether he\d be exploring it by Harley, mountain bike, boat or scuba fins. One of his most beloved treasures was a framed map of the world where he kept track of the many places he\d visited throughout his life. Despite pleadings from his children, he began every car trip by singing Willie Nelson\s \"On the road again.\"

Carl was a dedicated Scoutmaster for decades and loved teaching good boys how to become great men. He was proud of the fact that all three of his boys earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved the outdoors and always took care of nature. Whenever he was out in nature, he\d take time to teach those with him about the environment and geology (whether they wanted to hear it or not). You weren\t done learning until he was done teaching you.

A successful entrepreneur, Carl owned his own business in large group health insurance. He served on Governor Mike Leavitt's health insurance council and was a skillful speaker and salesman. He was a powerful advocate for his clients and fierce negotiator on their behalf.

Carl was as tough as nails and never backed down from a fight, but cancer was the one opponent he couldn\t beat even though he fought valiantly for years. He will be missed by countless people and has left a huge hole in our hearts.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 9:00-10:45 am with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah 84092

Carl, we wish you well, as you embark on your next great adventure. You really just couldn\t wait to get on the road again.
