Joanne Angelo Moeller

1942 ~ 2015

Our loving wife, mother, and "Nonny", Joanne Angelo Moeller, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2015 in Cottonwood Heights, UT. Joanne was born on June 14, 1942 in Buffalo, NY to Dr. Martin Anthony Angelo and Marie Ruth SanFilippo Angelo. She married William C. Moeller on April 6, 1968 in New York City, after meeting on the ski slopes at Stratton Mountain, VT in 1967.

Joanne graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Daemen College (formerly Rosary Hill College), in Amherst, near Buffalo. She graduated with a Master's Degree in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1965. She taught music at a middle school in Yonkers, NY from 1965-1968. After marriage in NYC, Joanne and Bill moved, concurrent with Bill's career, to Kitchener, ON, Canada, then to Fort Lee, NJ, then to the Town of Colden, near Buffalo, and finally to Salt Lake City, UT, and Scottsdale, AZ. In the 1970's, Joanne co-founded a community newsletter covering events in Colden. During the 1980's Joanne led the children's Choir at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City. Joanne's priority from 1971 on, when Bill and her first child was born, was the nurturing, caring and development of her three wonderful children.

Everyone who knows Joanne has witnessed her strong faith and love for her Lord, Jesus Christ. We take comfort knowing she has returned to her Savior in Heaven for everlasting life. Joanne dearly loves her family, friends and virtually everyone she met. She was an accomplished pianist, experienced cook; she loved gardening and developed into a good golfer after learning it in her 50's. She enjoyed bible studies, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Some other family highlights include: a 15 day river rafting adventure in the Grand Canyon in 1998 (accompanied by a string quartet), golfing and sightseeing in Scotland and Ireland in 2007, and a trip to Italy in 2009. While in Italy, Joanne and her family visited Sicily, the birth place of her maternal great-grandparents and a special trip to the village of Muro Lucano, the birth place of both of her paternal grandparents.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Bill Moeller; children: Brita (Wayne) Sieve, Andrew Moeller, Shere (Dylan) Brunjes; her four beloved grandchildren: Madeline and Charlotte Sieve, Lucia and George Brunjes; brothers: Louis (RaeAnn) Angelo, Martin Angelo; and her grand-dog, Myla. She is preceded in death by her parents.

An Arizona Celebration of Joanne's Life Memorial service will be held on Friday November 13, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Light of the Desert Lutheran Church, 33175 North Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek, Arizona. An earlier Celebration of Life service was held in Utah on Saturday September 19, 2015 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Sandy, Utah. That was preceded by a viewing held on Friday at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary also in Sandy. Interment: Washington County Cemetery, West Bend, WI. West Bend is a place of fond memories of Christmas for Joanne's children and interment site of Bill's parents. For additional information, please visit www.larkinmortuary.com.
