Kenneth Oluf Hansen

1920 ~ 2013

Kenneth O. Hansen, 93, passed away July 21, 2013 in Salt Lake City. He was born April 19, 1920 in Richfield, Utah to Amasa Niels and Minnie Olsen Hansen, the last of 11 children. He married Ruby Smith on Sept. 19, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served 2 years in the US Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during WWII.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including, Bishoprics, High Councils, temple worker and was a faithful home teacher. He and Ruby served 2 missions after they retired, in Guam and Singapore.

After his retirement he volunteered 8000 hours at St. Marks' Hospital. He visited and cared for siblings and friends whenever he saw a need.

He is survived by 2 sons, Dennis (Jackie), Calvin (Lillian), 2 daughters, Janna Lee (Dennis) Lawrence, and Jeanette (Gary) Nichols; special Apache daughter, Shirley (Randy) Titla; 26 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife Ruby, 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The family wishes to thank Inspiration Hospice and Senior Care for their loving and tender care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11am in the Little Cottonwood 14th Ward, 1160 E. Vine St. (6100 S.) with a viewing prior from 9-10:30am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The General Missionary Fund of the LDS Church or The Salvation Army.
