H. Thomas Smith, Sr. of Herriman, Utah was born August 14, 1943 in El Paso, Texas. He is the son of Nilan and Minnie Robinson Smith and husband of the love of his life, Connie. He passed away at home after an extended illness.
Tom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who was dedicated to his callings and various responsibilities, with love and obedience to the gospel and devotion to his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Tom fulfilled his boyhood dream by becoming a railroad engineer, and was later promoted to Human Resources at Southern Pacific Railroad where he managed over 10,000 employees. He was also the owner of the largest pet store in Northern Utah; served as a director at Stevens-Henager College; held various sales and management positions and was the co-owner of Mountain West Senior Benefits, with his wife Connie.
He adored his wife and children, grandchildren and extended family, all who took top priority in his amazing life.
Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Jodi Lyn Smith and wife, Lorraine Davis Smith. He is survived by his wife, Connie Smith, three daughters: Kimberlee Smith Johnson (Brett), Donnelle Smith, and Patricia Smith Rigby (Jake); two sons: H. Thomas Smith, Jr. (Renae) and Todd L. Smith(Carmen); Fourteen Grandchildren, one Great Grandchild; Parents: Nilan L. and Minnie Robinson Smith; two brothers: Sidney L. Smith (Vicki), Larry D. Smith(Kathryn); one sister: Katherine Jane Mackay (Spencer); and numerous other family members and friends who he loved dearly.
Tom enjoyed basketball, tennis, golf and traveling with his beloved Connie. He was also a car enthusiast, and loved taking long drives with his wife in their 350Z. His contagious optimism, love of life and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Connie would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the liver clinic at Intermountain Medical Center for their expertise and kindness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Herriman Utah Rose Canyon Stake Center, 7079 West Rose Canyon Road, Herriman, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary ‚ Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, Utah and also on Saturday from 9:30 ‚ 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment to follow the services at the Herriman City Cemetery.
