Lyman M Nicoll

1928 ~ 2017

Lyman M Nicoll passed away in Tooele, Utah on June 20, 2017 at 89 years, the end of a healthy life. He was born February 14, 1928 in Mesa, Arizona to Alexander Babbitt and Naomi Nicoll, the 7th of 9 children. He was the last living member of his family. He was raised in Mesa until joining the Army in 1946, serving with occupational forces in Japan. Upon returning, he served a mission for the LDS Church in the West Central States Mission. He met Phyllis Garlick in Salt Lake City where they were married Sept 8, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. Lyman was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in many callings. In 1956 they moved to Mesa, AZ.

Lyman received his BS degree in Accounting from BYU in 1958. He joined the IRS as a Revenue Agent in 1961. In 1972 he transferred to Ogden, UT, where he retired after 40 years of service. Lyman loved to turn barren land into something beautiful. He had a great love for gardening. He was an innovative handyman.

Lyman had great love and concern for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Phyllis, and their five children: Mark (Kristie), Alan (Shelly), Diane (Rick) Little, Nancy (Doran) Henrie, and David (Elizabeth); 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Rocky Mountain Care Center in Tooele for their loving and kind care his last few days.

Funeral Services will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah. Visitation prior to services at 9:30. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
