Mary Margaret Rose Staley Sutton

1949 ~ 2019

Mary Margaret Rose Staley Sutton, an elect lady, age 69, passed away peacefully January 20, 2019 in Draper, UT. She waged a hard-fought battle for more than three decades against Multiple Sclerosis. Never again will she be slowed by its effects.

Mary was born on August 15, 1949 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Roy Staley and Mildred Rose Jackson Staley. She spent her early years growing up on a farm helping her father milk the cows and do the chores. She was a graduate of West Jefferson High School where she was selected as Drill Team Captain. She went on to graduate from Rick's College and then Brigham Young University with a degree in elementary education. She married "Tom" Warren Sutton on June 28, 1973 in the Provo, Utah, Temple. She enjoyed playing music, teaching piano lessons, genealogy, and serving others. It was no coincidence that she was called to serve as Stake Relief Society President, which allowed her to bless the lives of numerous individuals. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked hard her entire life and put all of her energy into the tasks at hand. In her later years, as MS limited her capacity to serve and do the things she loved to do, she brightened everyone's day with her smile. All who knew her recognized her courageous strength. She never complained. She just made the best of what she had.

Mary is survived by her husband Tom Sutton; children: Brent(Leighann), Mike, David and Steven; grandchildren: Madysen Rose and Chloe Rose; brothers Tony and Carl and sister Betsy . She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Bill and Edward.

Funeral Services for Mary will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 12:00 pm, at the Crescent North Stake Center located at 1050 East 10600 South in Sandy. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, and at Crescent North Stake Center from 10:30-11:40 am.
