Grace Johanna Gerwien Dayton

1916 ~ 2014

Grace passed away peacefully on March 17, 2014. She was born January 15, 1916 in Salt Lake City to Henry Carl and Emma Ann West Gerwien. Married Keaton B. Dayton July 12, 1933 in the Logan Temple. They enjoyed 59 wonderful years together and raised three children. Grace was active in the LDS Church, serving in Primary, Relief Society, and Sunday School. She was wonderful homemaker and loved working in her yard. Grace enjoyed traveling with her family to Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, and annual trips to Tuacahn. She belonged to a study group for more than fifty years and to a neighborhood "Circle of Friends." Preceeded in death by her parents, her husband in 1993, her sisters Dorothy Hoffmann and Leah Cox, and a great-granddaughter Sadie Dayton. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (George) Moore, Carmichael, CA, and Sharen (Tom) Sharpton, South Salt Lake City, UT, and a son Lynn Dayton, Sandy, UT, 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunrise of Sandy for the special loving care and kindness they extended to her during her stay.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Kimball Ward, 2280 South 300 East in South Salt Lake. A viewing will be held at the same location from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2014 and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
