Our beloved son, brother, nephew, and cousin, James Thomas Dodds, 17, passed away January 6, 2018 in Herriman, Utah. He was born to Steve and Cindy Raetz Dodds November 1, 2000 in Murray, Utah.
James grew up having many interests and hobbies. He would go RVing with his family and camped in many areas in Utah riding ATVs. After learning how to ice skate at an early age, he started playing hockey for the Salt Lake County teams until he was in eighth grade. Then he played hockey for Herriman High School in the ninth grade. He loved learning how to box, and many evenings he could be heard hitting the punching bag in his bedroom. He was also on the Herriman High School track team last Spring. He also loved taking art classes in school and did ceramics and drawings in many different mediums. James was soft spoken, quiet, and kind. He loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his twin sister, Stephanie and younger brother Jonathan, parents, Steve and Cindy, his Aunt Wendy Campbell, cousins, Adam Cordova, Megan, and Terran, his Uncle Mike and Aunt Cherrie Raetz, cousins Rachel and Kalli, his Aunt Diana Raetz and cousins Brian Smith and Andrea Smith
James was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Gwendolyn Raetz and Fred Dodds and Kay McClellan.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Butterfield Canyon 8th Ward, 6719 West Valynn Drive, Herriman Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, January 12, 2018 from 1-1:45 p.m. all at the ward. A graveside service will immediately follow at Herriman City Cemetery, 12465 South Pioneer Street (6000 West).
