Mary Cathleen Deakin

1922 ~ 2015

EPHRAIM, UT ‚ Cathleen Deakin peacefully left her earthly existence on the evening of Sunday, February 15 at the age of 92. She was born to Minnie Maud Greaves and Charles Fremont Deakin on December 13, 1922 in the home her grandfather built in Ephraim during the late 1800's. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in education. She taught several years at different elementary schools throughout Utah. After her mother had a stroke, she returned to Ephraim to care for her during her final 4 years. She also took care of elderly people throughout Utah during her later years.

Cathleen was an active member of the LDS Church her entire life, holding many different callings in her ward/stake, as well as her calling to work in the Manti temple for several years. She loved singing from the time she was a little girl and found it a joy to be part of her ward choir.

Cathleen is survived by her sister, Anita D. Isbell, of Salt Lake City, 6 nieces/nephews: Carol (Phillip) Moyes, Charles (Chris) Bardsley, Mary (Brent) Pitcher, Tom (Cynthia) Deakin, Tanya Anderson, Lynda (Dick) Baldwin, 19 great-nieces/nephews and numerous great-great nieces/nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Eunice (Maylin) Bardsley, brother Motley (Lydia) Deakin and nephew, Tad Isbell.

The family would like to thank Emeritus Care Center and Brighton Hospice for their tender care and compassion during the past month.

A viewing will be held Friday, February 20 from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 p.m. at the Ephraim 6th Ward, 765 S 100 E, as well as from 11:30 ‚ 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Ephraim City Cemetery. Online condolences: www.larkincares.com
