Gloria Joyce Carlson Demman

1925 ~ 2017

Gloria Joyce Carlson passed peacefully into the next life February 8, 2017. She was lovingly and carefully taken care of by Lynn Robbins in her rest home in Payson, Utah. Gloria lived an unencumbered and long life. She was 91 at the time of her passing.

She outlived three husbands, Lou Demman, Al Salmon, and Charles Hurst. She is survived by her only son Kerry Hurst of Alpine, Utah along with his wife Stephanie, four children Aubri, Andrew, Laura and Lisa, their spouses, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Gloria was born in Tooele, Utah then moved to Salt Lake City where she attended East High School. She moved to San Diego, California after high school where she worked on the war effort. While there she met her first husband. They had one child together. Unfortunately they separated shortly thereafter and she moved back to Salt Lake City with her baby boy. After three years she married again. They stayed together about ten years. That left just Gloria and Kerry together for the next ten years.

Gloria worked long hours as a beautician in Salt Lake supporting the two of them. They had many special times together. One of her favorite things was to go with Kerry to eat at Stephenson's Restaurant. There they enjoyed many happy dinners and loving conversations together.

When Kerry was in Sweden on a mission, Gloria met and married Lou Demman. They were together for the next 37 years. Lou joined the LDS church, Kerry baptized him and they were later sealed together in the Temple as a family. Lou took good care of her.

She started showing signs of Alzheimer's disease a few years before Lou passed away in 2005. Such a horrible condition! Her mind gradually faded away so for the last four years she became a mindless shell of herself. There were moments of awareness and recognition, but they became less and less as she aged.

Although we miss her, it is a blessing for her to be on the other side.

Her funeral will beSaturday February 18 at 11:00 a.m.in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City. The viewing will be at 10:00 a.m.
