Florence Buchanan Parsons

1925 ~ 2015

Florence Buchanan Parsons, age 89, died with her family at her side on January 7th, 2015. She was born on March 31, 1925 in Venice, Utah to Archibald Lester and Odetta Cowley Buchanan.

In 1943 she married her sweetheart, Angus Legrand Parsons, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were together for the next 49 years, until his death in 1992. As a widow, Florence continued to pursue her many interests: traveling, reading, painting pictures of her grandchildren and her favorite places (namely her family ranch near Park City, Utah), playing the piano, participating in the DUP, and doing family history research. As a member of the LDS church, she served diligently in many callings, including serving a family history mission at the age of 75. She lived a full life and loved spending time with her 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren, but she was also looking forward to the day she would be reunited with her dear husband.

After raising her children, Connie (Gail) Brown, John (Cassandria) Parsons, Mary (Lynn) Hales, Ted (Diana) Parsons, and Jane (Mike) Mangelson, she returned to the University of Utah, working for over 20 years as an administrator, and she was also excited to continue her studies there. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and their spouses, Douglas (Virginia) and Ralph (Dean), and sister Madge. She is survived by her loving sister, Elaine (Bob) Holman.

Her children wish to thank the many family and friends who helped Florence in her later years, by offering their loving company, transportation and care of all kinds.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon in the Foothill 3rd Ward Chapel, (1933 S. 2100 E., Salt Lake City, UT) on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
