Matthew James Crane

1975 ~ 2017

Matthew James Crane, our beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend passed away on Thursday, July 6th, 2017. Matt was born in Ft. Hood Texas on May 28th, 1975 to Steve and Terry Crane, and was the oldest brother to Erin Hansen. Matt was raised in the Bay Area, close to the city he loved most, San Francisco. Matt moved to Utah when he was fourteen years old.

Matt's life was full. He loved his family; being a father to his three boys Owen, Daxton, and Ethan was his life's greatest accomplishment. His relationship with his wife Amy was one of adoration, partnership, laughter, and love!

Matt had many hobbies that filled his life, including numerous hours spent skateboarding, drawing, snowboarding, running, riding his bike, camping, reading, DJing, computers, graphic design, and fixing anything with his hands. Matt had an indescribable love for music. Matt was one of Utah's House Music pioneers. Spending time with his turntables and records brought him hours and hours of joy and happiness. He met and influenced so many people by doing what he loved most playing records. His music made his heart whole.

In 2001 Matt married Jen Gould and they had one son together, Owen James Crane. In 2010 Matt married the love of his life Amy. Together they had Ethan William Crane and Matt gained a stepson and best friend Daxton Jae Chelius. Together many wonderful memories were made.

Matt's career in print began in 2001 with Rastar. He held a succession of roles including digital print, prepress and master technician, which led to his current role as a programmer for Sun Litho. Matt truly loved what he did and cherished all of the friendships made along the way.

Matt was admired by so many. His ability to try and learn something new was astonishing.

Matt meant so much to so many people, he touched so many lives. His intellectual, compassion, friendship, and laughter will be forever missed. Matt we love you. We will continue to hold all of your loving memories in our hearts.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, July 12th from 6-8pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 13th at Larkin Mortuary at 10:00 am. Family and friends may call at 9:00 am. Graveside service at the Bountiful City Cemetery following.

He was survived by his grandparents, Willis and Beverly Peterson; parents Stephen and Teresa Crane; sister Erin Hansen (John); wife Amy Crane; sons Daxton Jae Chelius, Owen James Crane, and Ethan William Crane; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
