Nathan Larry Peterson

1980 ~ 2015

Nathan Larry Peterson was born June 15, 1980 in Salt Lake City to Larry and Camille Peterson and was the happy younger brother of Lindsay (Gilvear). The family lived most of their life in Bountiful, Utah. At a young age, Nate was very sensitive to the needs of others and quickly became the person anyone could turn to for protection. He particularly gravitated to those who were bullied and picked on; he was their true friend. Nate's father died suddenly when he was just 16 years old. This marked the beginning of a difficult journey for Nate. He was fortunate to eventually meet the love of his life, Megan Hutchinson and they were married in the Draper LDS Temple September 15, 2011. They welcomed their daughter, Brooklyn Olivia August 7, 2013. He loved his wife perfectly and adored his daughter with all his heart. They could not have asked for a better man to be part of their family. In his lifetime he demonstrated true love, hard work, and devotion.

On June 21, 2015 we all became painfully aware of the depth of Nate's inner struggle when he chose to leave this mortal life. He never wanted to burden anyone especially his wife with his personal struggles because of his selfless nature. The loss of his loving father, and later in life, the loss of his father-in-law to whom he turned to for guidance, affected Nate more than any of us could comprehend. He internalized his fears and anxieties and fought hard to hide his need for help while continuing to serve and care for other's needs before his own. He truly believed it was normal and everyone felt that way.

He never spoke ill of others, always looked for the good in everyone, and believed that being a good man was the most important thing in life. His life was devoted to his wife and daughter and would do anything for them. He reached the conclusion, and was convinced, his family deserved better and truly believed that leaving this life would be in their best interest. He was an incredibly selfless person to a fault. No one, including Nate, understood the battle he fought. He lived his life honorably and fought as long and as hard as he could. Let us remember the amazing and selfless man Nate was, and honor his life by being more kind, more aware, and more understanding of those around us. He loved all of us in our imperfections and would not criticize us for our lack of understanding his struggle.

Nate's time with us was short but he will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him best. Nate was a beloved and honorable Husband, Father, Son, Brother and Friend. He is preceded in death by his Father Larry Peterson, his Father-in-Law W. Merrill Hutchinson Jr. and is survived by his loving wife Megan, daughter Brooklyn, mother Camille Peterson, sister Lindsay Gilvear and husband (Tony Gilvear), and many other immediate and extended family members.
