Barry M Espil

1945 ~ 2013

Barry M. Espil, age 68, passed away August 28, 2013 after a prolonged struggle following a massive stroke suffered in November 2009. Despite being unable to speak following the stroke, all who met him were captivated by his larger than life personality and winning smile. He could speak volumes with his expressive, playful eyebrows.

Born to Janet and Jean-Pierre Espil on February 20, 1945 in Redding,CA. He was a little rascal, winning the hearts of all. Barry developed a love for golf early on, winning multiple tournaments at the local country club near his childhood home in Redding, CA by age 12.

He attended Utah State University on a golf scholarship, winning many tournaments and lifelong friendships.

Sigma Nu and beer highlighted these college years. He graduated in 1968 and later received a Master's Degree in Public School Administration from the College of Idaho in 1981. He spent many years as a teacher, administrator, principal and beloved coach both in Idaho and California. Countless students will remember him as mentor and coach in academics, sports and life. He is beloved by all that entered his sphere, both fellow teachers and students alike.

Barry had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, golf and cooking, excelling in all four. His hunting and fishing trophies could fill several rooms. Apologies, his famous all-driveway beer chicken recipe will remain a secret. Barry was truly \"one of the good guys\", cultivating and maintaining numerous lifelong friendships. Despite a sometimes blustery exterior, his heart was as big as his personality, always helping anyone in need.

He is survived by wife Muriel Blackner Burback Espil, married Sept 20, 2008. Muriel\s continued devotion though out his long illness portrays the true meaning of the word love.
