Lynn Arnold Jameson

1938 ~ 2017

Lynn Arnold Jameson, 78 years old, passed away on April 8, 2017 in Salt Lake City, UT as the result of a heart attack. Lynn "Arny" was born in Syracuse, NY on December 8, 1938, the son of Lawrence Mitchell and Lavelle Nichols Jameson. He graduated from Eastwood High School in Syracuse, graduated from Brigham Young University and graduate school at the University of Utah. He taught History and Languages for almost 40 years at Murray High School.

Lynn is survived by his sister, Olivia "Toodie" West (Roy Funk); nieces, Mary Jameson Wirtz, Katie Howard, Rebecca Jameson Rankin; nephews, Larry Jameson, Wayne Jameson, Todd Howard, Kristopher Howard and Daniel West. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Lawrence Gordon Jameson.

Lynn was a brilliant man who had an insatiable love of learning. As a teen and young adult he had wonderful friends, whom still stayed in contact with him. He served an LDS mission in Southern California from 1957-1959. He excelled in all of his education, including music. He spoke 4 languages fluently and was working on another. His love of history is reflected in his library. He loved teaching and made history come alive. He had a hard time understanding why everyone did not love to learn as he did. Hundreds of 3x5 cards held the information he studied every day.

Even in his adult life as he battled mental health issues, he always would reach out to those whom he felt he could contribute to and help lift their burdens. He had a kind heart.

He lived in Salt Lake City, Sandy, Tooele, Roosevelt, UT and finally back in Salt Lake City for his last 5 years. During those years he was peaceful, safe and able to rekindle his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, be secure in the Saviors love for him, and look forward to returning home with those who had gone before.

We will miss him but are so grateful for the release from the earthly burdens that he suffered for so many years.

Until we meet again,

A private family service was held April 15, 2017. Interment took place in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
