James Chris Rupprecht

1936 ~ 2017

After courageously battling numerous health problems, Heavenly Father finally welcomed James Chris Rupprecht back into his loving arms on August 17, 2017.

Jim was born in Long Beach, California on September 1, 1936, to Fred and Isabella "Sally" Empey Rupprecht. He attended San Diego State University, where he met and married his eternal companion, Lynne Alice Ralph. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 27, 1971. After honorably serving his country in the Navy Medical Corps for six years, Jim retired from military service and became a pharmaceutical salesman in Spokane, Washington. He served in that capacity for 24 years and loved his job. He was always one of the top 20 sales personnel in the company.

Jim moved from Washington to Utah in June of 2000 to be closer to his children and their families. Settling in Herriman, he enjoyed the quiet surroundings of the growing city. A life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Jim loved serving his fellow brothers and sisters. He was always happiest teaching the gospel of Christ and did so for more than 40 years. He taught with a bold style that will never be forgotten by those privileged to be in his classes. His lessons were never what could be called pink bows, but they always made you think.

Jim loved his family, his dogs, the BYU Cougars, and his San Francisco Forty-Niners. He spent many an afternoon cheering them on, and groaning when they lost. He also loved to golf, and some of his happiest moments were spent on the courses with his son.

His life was dedicated to his wife and children. He was always present at every function his children undertook. From violin concerts to baseball games, he was always there cheering or coaching. He loved coaching his daughters in softball for many years, and later enjoyed coaching with his daughter alongside him. This was a natural transition for him as he played AA baseball with the Albuquerque Dukes during his younger years, and even spent a week or two with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Jim is survived by his children, Christine (Ken) Farnsworth, Julie (Andrew) Selph, JK (Leana) Rupprecht, Jenna Rupprecht, and Liz Rupprecht, as well as numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sally Rupprecht, and his loving wife, Lynne.

Services for Jim Rupprecht will be held at the Pioneer 5th Ward church building in Herriman at 13381 South 6000 West on Tuesday August 22 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the same building on Monday August 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Friends, family, and acquaintances may pay their respects at this time. Interment at Herriman City Cemetery immediately following.
