Nada Paulsen Lowell

1926 ~ 2015

Nada Paulsen Lowell died peacefully on Sunday 20th in her home. She was born on August 13, 1926 to Hyrum and Caroline Brady Paulsen in Ephraim, Utah. She was the youngest and last surviving of six children. Nada survived her husband James Arlo Nuttall who died in 1952 and later married D. James Lowell who passed in 2011. She and Jim lived in California for 15 years, for a few years each in Norway, Maryland and Park City, Utah; and since the later 1980s in Edmonds, Washington.

Nada recalled an idyllic youth, despite the Great Depression, with loving parents and siblings. She studied music performance at Snow College and completed a baccalaureate degree from the University of Utah. She sang solos in church and on special occasions, performed in choirs including the Southern Mormon Tabernacle Choir, played piano accompaniment, and was music director in various LDS wards. She worked in Jim's physician's practice and as keeper of the home and books. Well-traveled in Europe, she avidly explored museums and Cathedrals. Nada enthusiastically read fiction and who-done-it novels. She loved cross-country skiing in the winter and long walks in the autumn with its yellow, orange and red leaves; colors she adored. Nada had an extraordinary ability to charm children and endear adults. She was blessed with close friends, a steadfast optimism, and a loving personality.

Nada is survived by her children Nana Lowell, Lori Smith, Briant L. and Kent M. Lowell; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Condolences can be shared at www.larkinmortuary.com.
