Myron Russell Kidner

1929 ~ 2015

Myron Russell Kidner of Murray, passed away peacefully Feb. 7 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 86. Myron was born on January 20, 1929, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Melvin M. and Maude M. Grimm Kidner. He was raised and educated in Rapid City. He graduated Rapid City High School in 1946 and from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1950. He earned a degree in Chemical Engineering.

During the Korean War Myron was drafted into the Army and was assigned to the Dugway Proving Grounds in Western Utah. After separation from the army, he went to work for US Steel at Geneva Works in Orem. He married Betty LaRae Crane of Draper on December 18, 1953.

In June of 1964 Myron was transferred to US Steel's headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA to work as an Industrial Engineer. In 1983 his job was eliminated by downsizing and he retired. Within a few months he was rehired as a consultant for UEC-US Steel's consulting subsidiary. He spent the next 16 years traveling and working in many parts of the world. In June 1998, after retiring for the second time, Myron and Betty moved to Murray, UT to be closer to their family. He was a member of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers and American Legion Post 71.

Myron is survived by his wife Betty, children David (Karen) of Watertown, WI, Allen (Tammy) of Layton, UT, Karen, and Linda (Gary) Richman both of Salt Lake City, 15 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Kermit of Rapid City, SD and Orlin (Marjean) of Wells, NV; sister in law Charlene Kidner of Horseshoe Bend, ID; and brother in law Rudi Kreb of Widefield, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Everett and sister Margaret Kreb.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12th, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy, Utah. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, February 11th from 6-8:00 p.m. and also on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
