Danny Lynn Lehtonen had a memorable laugh and an unconditional love for his family. His journey through this life ended suddenly on August 17, 2020 in a tragic car accident in Tooele County, Utah.

Throughout his life, Danny blessed the lives of those he met and loved through his generous nature, kind spirit, and engaging smile.

Danny was born May 12, 1960 to Sherrill and John Lehtonen. He spent his childhood with his parents and brother, Robby, in Vancouver, Washington.

In February 2011, Danny met his soulmate, Donna, on an airplane when he noticed the flight attendant “with the great smile.” He couldn’t miss his opportunity, and so, with a, “Hello, Donna!” he asked her for a date. Their relationship took off from there, and they were married three years later on February 22, 2014. They’ve filled their years together with adventure and travel, but equally enjoyed spending a quiet evening together at home.

The father of two daughters, Danny was delighted to gain five sons in his union with Donna. A bountiful gift resulting in 29 grandchildren who knew him as “Grampa Danny.”

Danny had a penchant for music (over a hundred vinyl records), motorcycles (there are 4 of them), football (go Washington Huskies!), traveling (hello, San Diego!), good food (a good pizza was always best), but, above all, family. He enjoyed taking long Sunday rides on one of his four bikes with his wife, and once spent two weeks on the road traveling along the Oregon coast. Danny was a huge football fan and never failed to cheer on his team. He loved retreating to his “Vista House” in San Diego to enjoy the beautiful beaches and sunny weather. Danny was a true “foodie,” often scouting out the newest and most interesting restaurants to try. He loved camping with family and spending time to connect with each family member individually.

Danny loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a devout Christian. His family will miss him dearly, but is comforted knowing he is back in the loving arms of his Savior.

Danny is survived by his wife Donna; parents John and Sherrill; brother Robby; two daughters Chanelle and April; five stepsons, Beau (Crystal), Sam (Lacie), Josh (Jessica), Devan (Madison), Trevor (Deseret); and 29 grandchildren. He will also be missed by the countless family and friends that he has positively impacted along his 60-year journey through this life.

A memorial service will be held at Larkin Mortuary in Riverton (3688 W. 12600 S.), Friday, August, 28, 2020 at 3 pm, for family and close friends. A Celebration of Life will follow at 5 pm, Draper Park, 12500 S 1300 E, Draper, UT 84020. A memorial in Vancouver, Washington will be held at a future date.
