Lorna Joyce Dangerfield Hague

1928 ~ 2017

Mom passed away after a brief illness on March 15, 2017. She was born at home on September 26, 1928 to Ernest and Margaret Dangerfield while living on McClelland Street in Sugarhouse. Mom was the youngest of 9 children. She was born with low muscle tone so her family carried her on a pillow until she was 3. A doctor advised her mother to have mom take up tap dancing to strengthen her body, and the rest is history! She became a wonderful tap dancer. One of the highlights of her dancing career was performing in the USO while wearing the costumes her mother had made. She was also a fantastic teacher of tap and ballet and taught in the basement of her home for many years. We (her children) learned to tap dance from her in the basement studio on McClelland Street.

While in the fifth grade at Forest Elementary, she was asked to show a new student around school. His name was Don Hague. They have been together ever since. They attended South High School and immediately after graduation, near the end of WW II, Don served in the Navy. Lorna waited for her sweetheart and they were married in August, 1947 when he returned from duty.

They traveled to Washington D.C., Fort Worth Texas, and finally back to Salt Lake City, where they bought their first and only home on their beloved McClelland Street. Then came the joys of raising 4 sons and 1 daughter.

Mom was the glue that held everything together. If you needed something done, she would do it and do it right! She loved being a mother, grandma and great grandma. She loved holidays, especially the Fourth of July. She loved America and the American Flag, flying it at their home every day.

Most of all, she loved our dad, who passed away 17 months ago on Veterans Day.

She is survived by her sons, Alan (Peggy), Kevin (Judy, deceased) Steven, Bryan (Debbie) and daughter Karen (Joe) Post, 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, her devoted husband, Donald, her grandson Cameron and daughter in law Judy.

Special thanks to Pacifica Senior Living, Millcreek. Their staff loved and cared for mom while she lived there the past nine months

We Love you Mom, A BUSHEL AND A PECK!
