Lynn Carol Sargent Haslam

1943 ~ 2015

Lynn Carol Sargent Haslam, our gracious, devoted and special wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, left this mortal existence on March 29, 2015 from cancer. Lynn was born on January 23, 1943 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, the first of seven children of David LeRoy Sargent, Jr. and Helen Jeannette Greene Sargent. She was raised in Salt Lake City where she married the love of her life and best friend Steven John Haslam on June 20, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in leadership and teaching positions in Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, Sunday School and other church organizations. She was a wonderful teacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She especially loved serving a full time mission with her husband in the Salt Lake Temple Square Mission. She loved temple work and found joy in serving as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a tremendous support to her husband and shared in his many leadership responsibilities.

Lynn graduated from Olympus High School and attended the University of Utah. She was employed by the Utah State Board of Education, Utah School Employees Association, Salt Lake Teachers Association and Franklin Covey. Lynn found her greatest happiness with her husband, children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved and supported. She spent many hours and years involved in family history which was her passion. She also enjoyed handwork, reading and studying, and writing poetry. She was a lovely, kind, thoughtful and gentle woman, and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Steve; children, Russ Haslam, Heather (Sean) Sant, and Amy Palmer; her nine grandchildren, Josh, Lindsay and Hailey Haslam; Baylie, Addison and Hallie Sant; Savannah and Gavin Palmer and Livia Leek. Her surviving siblings are: Anne Haslam, Jeanne (Tony) Fenton, Steven (Helen) Sargent and Lorrie (Jeff) Allen. David (Anita) Pearson and Cathie Manwaring are cherished in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Lou Pearson and brother, David L. Sargent, III.

We want to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their compassionate care.
