Jeddy Layne Dunford

1943 ~ 2020

Jeddy Layne Dunford (Jed), 77, of South Jordan, Utah

Our Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather left his earthly home on March 18, 2020 after a valiant battle due to complications from Pneumonia. Jed was born in Salt Lake City to Burns Love and Maurine (Phippen) Dunford on March 7, 1943. He married "the most gorgeous woman in the whole world", Traci Ana Lindorff, in the Salt Lake Temple on March 17, 1966. He is survived by his wife, Traci Dunford; five children- Kimberly (Daniel) Troff, Bryce (Jennifer) Dunford, Melissa Dunford, David (Debbie) Dunford, and Amberlyn Dunford; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, many "adoptees", and 3 siblings- Wyn, Brad, and Sandy. Preceded in death by his son, Matthew, both parents, and his brother, Scott.

Jed's greatest joy came in serving and helping other people. He believed that "people are the real treasures of life" and that "relationships are the greatest source of happiness." Everything he did in life revolved around these beliefs! It never mattered what he was doing or what he was involved in, if anyone needed his help, he would drop everything and go help them, never complaining, and always willing! Jed could fix anything!!! And if he didn't know how to fix it, he would figure it out, or he would improvise!! His great-grandchildren called him "Grandpa Fix-it".

Jed was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in so many different capacities there. He served a 2 Ω year mission to Germany. He served as an ordinance worker at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple for 10 years. He also created and implemented several software programs used by the temple and at time of death was serving as the Temple Computer Maintenance Specialist. He served as a Church Service Events Missionary at Temple Square and the Conference Center for 5 years and was a group leader for 2 of those years. He also spent many years as a church service missionary to the prison and was an integral part in establishing a Family History Center for the Prisoners.

Jed loved learning! He graduated from the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering and worked as a Computer Programmer throughout his career. He was always learning new things about the computer and at the age of 63 fulfilled a lifelong dream of receiving a Masters Degree from the University of Utah in Science and Technology. He loved to give math and science lessons to anyone who would listen and loved to quiz everyone on square roots!!

Jed had a deep belief that "happiness is a choice only you can make" and spent many years counseling people and writing books on how to identify and correct false beliefs. He loved helping people realize their worth and find greater happiness in their lives! Many lives were touched because of Jed Dunford.

Jed loved life and wasn't afraid to live it! He never worried about what other people thought of him, but everyone who knew him, loved him! He was the greatest husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa anyone could ask for and he will be sorely missed!

A private family graveside service will be held at this time because of current circumstances; however, when the situation permits, we will hold a celebration of life to honor him that all who knew him will be welcome to attend.

And remember, "There is no substitute for being good!"
