Ida was granted her wish to go home on October 31, 2017 at 88 years of age. She was born on September 18, 1929 in Dixon, New Mexico to Alejandro and Virginia Sanchez Griego. She married Porfirio Marquez on July 2, 1949 and together they had 7 children.
She is survived by her children Jim (Connie), Hazel Barr and Jolene (Jeff) Welch, sisters Mary Trujillo and Lillian Pando, a special nephew, Bruce Griego, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, sons Alex, Fred, Anthony and Lawrence, granddaughter Penny Case, brother Misel Griego, sisters Elsie Deuel and Barbara Cordova, son-in-law Steven Barr, daughter-in-law Geneva Marquez and her dearest friend Elmer "Duke" Garrison.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2840 South 9000 West, Magna, UT. A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m., where recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, UT. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the services on Monday morning at the church.
