Baird R. Guin

Baird Robert Guin, 70, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and overall great guy, passed away April 9, 2016 of cardiac failure at the University of Utah Medical Center. He was born in Salt Lake City Sept. 24, 1945 the son of Oddie and Evelyn Guin.

Generous to a fault, he was "Mr. Fix-It" to family and friends while self-employed as a building maintenance expert, servicing numerous prominent Salt Lake area apartment complexes. He was a graduate of East High School, attended the University of Utah and served in the Utah National Guard Special Force Group (Airborne). He was a University of Utah Crimson Club member and staunch fan of the football and basketball teams.

A skilled, silver- and goldsmith, he designed and made countless unique jewelry items for friends and relatives. He also was an exceptional cook, always preparing savory meals for his grateful guests. He married Vicky Wilde, later divorced. On Aug. 24, 1980 he married Elaine C. Korologos in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Salt Lake City where he was a longtime member and volunteer.

Survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter Brandy Guin-Barningham; great-grandson Leon D. Towe; granddaughter Mychel (Mesha) Guin, all Salt Lake City; grandson Jean Michael Guin, Klamath Falls, OR; cousins Vaughn and Lorraine Milliron, Salt Lake City; Gary and Judi Shipler, Bonney Lake, WA.

Viewing Thursday, April 14, 6-8 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 7 p.m., Larkin Mortuary ‚ Downtown, 260 E. South Temple. Funeral service Friday at 11 a.m., Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 S. 300 West. Burial Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
