LaRae Nicholes Zimpfer

1924 ~ 2017

LaRae Nicholes Zimpfer, age 92, passed away March 26, 2017 after a long and valiant struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. LaRae was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 5, 1924 to Elmarion and Theadocia Brown Nicholes. After graduating from South High School, she attended LDS Business College and worked at Utah Oil Company. She met her husband Eugene M. Zimpfer while he was stationed at Wendover, Utah. They married in December, 1945 and later divorced. After her children were older, she went to work at Olympus High School, where she made many friends and especially enjoyed being surrounded by the students.

She was a loving, affectionate mother and an amazing cook. As a member of the LDS church she taught Primary and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She loved to dance and play tennis. She belonged to a ladies bowling league and bridge club where she shared many fun evenings with her life-long girlfriends. She was stunningly beautiful and was always impeccably dressed. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, generosity and devotion to her family.

LaRae is survived by her son Bradford, daughter Carol Ann Davis, and four grandsons whom she adored; Daniel, Christopher, Brandon and Nicholas. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother James (Bud), sisters; Carol, June, Jeanne Rigby, Orlene White, LaRean Kinder and Beth Zufall.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the American Fork Cemetery, 600 N. Center St., where she will be buried next to her parents and siblings. Friends may visit on Friday, March 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy.
