Kathlene H. Christensen

1944 ~ 2016

Kathlene H. Christensen, born in Provo, UT on Jan. 18, 1944 to Max and Marie Hansen, left this world surrounded by her six children on Dec. 29, 2016 after bravely battling the effects of a stroke for 7 years. Miss Spanish Fork in 1960, Kathy earned a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and later a Masters of Education.

Kathy married the late Craig A. Christensen in 1965 with whom she had 6 children. Her lifelong passion for early childhood education was expressed teaching 2nd grade at Oakridge Elementary for 20 years and spending free time with her grandkids. Kathy loved serving her community by volunteering for Primary Children's Hospital, the Church History Museum, Junior League, political campaigns, and various callings for the Monument Park 11th ward. She also served as president of the PTA and her sorority Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was a proud mother, teacher and grandma - roles that benefited from her childlike sense of wonderment. Kathy loved fine art, decorating, entertaining, Neil Diamond, herSundaypaper, travel, music, long drives and her canyon breeze. Kathy was loved by all that met her and known for creating relationships to last a lifetime. She was the classiest woman her children knew, and a leader to whom they will always look to for guidance.

She is survived by children Colonae, Preston (Melissa), Alicin (Joe), Julie (Craig), Megan (Michael), and Marin (Bill), and nine grandchildren.

Kathy's family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff at both Hillside Rehab Ctr and Brighton Hospice. Their affection and care for Kathy made her hardest years full of love and safety.
