Malcolm Cornelius Rico

2017 ~ 2018

Malcolm Cornelius Rico, our sweet little "Mr. Mac," passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving parents on January 1, 2018. Diagnosed in July with the rare genetic disorder that we knew would ultimately take his life, he managed to stay with us in good spirits and relative strength and alertness through Christmas. Shortly thereafter, he contracted a virus that his little body was not strong enough to fight off, and he left us early in the morning of the dawn of the new year.

Malcolm's beautiful bright eyes and serene expression drew people to him instantly. He loved reaching for people's glasses; tormenting Cal, the family dog; and being with people. He always wanted to be where his family was, and no one could make him laugh better than his brother, Elliot. We will especially miss snuggling with him. Love was the theme of his life—he shared it constantly and brought it out in others wherever he was.

Malcolm is survived by his parents, Lincoln and Sylvia Rico; his big brother, Elliot; all four grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and great-grandparents. Funeral services will be heldSaturday, January 6, at 11:00 a.m.in the Taylorsville North Stake Center building,1250 West Atherton Drive, with a visitation from10:00 to 10:45that morning at the same location.
