Allison Bennett van der Heyde

1936 ~ 2018

Allison Bennett van der Heyde passed away peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was born in New York City on May 27, 1936 to Virginia Allison Bennett and Richard Summers Bennett. Allison grew up in the avenues, where she attended and was graduated from Rowland Hall School for Girls. She attended the University of Utah and affiliated with Pi Beta Phi sorority. She attended Pamona College in Claremont California where she majored in French.

She married Peter A.M. van der Heyde on June 30, 1961 in Salt Lake City. She is survived by two children Richard Allison van der Heyde (Susan) and Ingrid Elizabeth van der Heyde Robbins (Marty), sister Bette Bennett Penney (Darm) and four grandchildren Erica Jayne Robbins, Paul Antonius Robbins, David Elmer Robbins, Douglas Martin Robbins, two great grandchildren, four nieces and four nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Virginia Ann Bennett, brother Richard Wallace Bennett and her nephew.

Allison was a voracious reader and member of the Daria Book Club. She was proficient in quilting, needlepoint and cooking. She had a sweet and thoughtful nature and never spoke ill of anyone. She loved her friends and family dearly. She had a special fondness for her husband's family in the Netherlands and loved all things Dutch.

In her final days, she became a nursing staff favorite. We would like to thank the care givers at St. Joseph's for their kind and meticulous care.

Allison loved animals and would be happy if donations were made in her honor to Best Friends Animal Society, Salt Lake City, Utah.

A graveside service will be held in the northeast section of the Salt Lake City Cemetery (near the military) on Monday, October 22 at 2:00 pm.
