Demetrios Emmanuel Kepas

1929 ~ 2016

Demetrios Emmanuel Kepas, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and friend passed away Monday, January 11th, in Provo, Utah. Demetrios is survived by his eternal companion, Joyce, his children: Manny (Ellen), Athena (Jack), Helene (Shawn), Sophia (James), Alexandra, and Chrysanthe (David); twenty four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his father and mother.

Demetrios was born in Volos, Greece and attended medical school in Athens. He then moved to Salt Lake City for a residency in Pathology, at the University of Utah where he met his wife, Joyce. They married in Baltimore MD, and were later sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. The family moved from Baltimore, New York, Kansas before finally settling in Provo, Utah where Demetrios began work as a Pathologist at Utah Valley Hospital (UVRMC). He loved his job and all the people with whom he worked for twenty-five years. Demetrios loved to serve and to help those in need, and after retiring, he was thrilled to serve a mission to Greece. Afterwards, he often served at the Provo, Utah Temple. Demetrios also served at the church history center and helped many families connect with their Greek relatives. He also helped to translate scriptures and temple films into Greek. Demetrios was an avid gardener and had a love of learning and teaching. Demetrios was very charitable and touched many lives.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm, January 16, 2016, at the Edgemont 7th Ward chapel in Provo, Utah (555 E. 3230 N). Family and friends may call Saturday morning from 11:00 am ‚ 12:30 pm prior to the service. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 N 800 E.
