Genevieve Betty Garland

1929 ~ 2019

Genevieve P. Garland passed away peacefully on December 20, 2019, in Sandy, Utah. She was born on January 30, 1929, in Paisley, Oregon to William Savior and Winifred Dorrine Pike Pochelu. She married Edwin Kauppila. He preceded her in death.

Genevieve was a wonderful mother of 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She loved dancing, tennis, bowling, golf and tournament bridge. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, often volunteering to do administrative work for the bishop in her ward or volunteer work in the Temple. She graduated from Oregon State University in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. She worked in many administrative positions over her career and also owned her own real estate brokerage firm in the Lake Tahoe area for many years. Genevieve was a believer in integrity and hard work. She emphasized education and financial prudence to her children. She was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Genevieve is survived by her sister Dorrine, her three children Jim, Teri and Cheri, her 6 grandchildren and her 10 great-grandchildren. Genevieve is preceded in death by both her parents, William Pochelu and Winifred Pike Pochelu, her sisters Rosalie, Dolly, Joann, and her brother John.

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at 10:00 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah 84092. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
