James Leroy Parker

1941 ~ 2019

Our husband, father, grandfather, and brother, James L. Parker passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2019 with his loving wife and faithful dog Abby by his side.

Born to Clarence L. Parker and Fern Ann (Hughes) on June 9, 1941, he grew up surrounded by family in Sandy, Utah. Upon graduating from Jordan High School in 1959, he enlisted in the Navy and spent over 28 years in service to our country. He took time off to marry the love of his life, Carron L. Caine, in 1963. Together they traveled much of the United States over the course of their married life. While living in Nebraska they were blessed with two children, who he felt were his greatest accomplishments.

Jim's life was about service. He was a faithful disciple of the Savior and listened to his counsel. He was always a student and loved to learn new things. After retiring from the Navy he graduated from Westminster College. One of his great passions was working with wood. He valued his friendships and was a good friend to all. He was a quiet man but his kindness spoke volumes.

He is survived by his wife, Carron, daughter Kathryn Parker (BJ Wordinger), son Scott (Robyn), six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his brother Arthur (Kay). His love and gentleness will be missed by all on this side, but we are sure his mom, dad, brother, and many other family members and friends greeted him with open arms.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 1st at the Sandy City Cemetery, 700 East, 9000 South, Sandy, Utah. A celebration of life and luncheon will follow the graveside at 1:00 pm at the LDS Church located at 1880 East 9800 South, Sandy, Utah.
