Our loving sweetheart, mom, gram, sister and best friend left us on January 12, 2017 as a result of her six-year experience with cancer. Through it all, she kept her positive, happy radiance, patient and non-complaining to the end.
Judy was born February 2, 1939 to Frank Carl Berg and Beatrice Romney. She graduated in 1957 from East High School. She attended BYU until she and Kent G. Merrill were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple on June 11, 1958.
Judy and Kent have been blessed with a caring, loving family who all survive her; Mark (Stephanie), Kevin, Matt and one daughter, Lisa (Brent) Hogan, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Frank David Berg and a sister, Cindy (Brent) Palmer. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Pat Wade. Besides her family, Judy's entire life was spent serving others, especially in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her most cherished service lasted seventeen years as an ordinance worker in the South Jordan Temple.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to family, friends and medical providers who made her last few weeks at home as comfortable and dignified as possible.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the River Ridge LDS Chapel, 10200 South 1300 West in South Jordan. Friends are invited to visit at the ward on Monday, January 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy.
