Esther Glauser Iseli Ehlers

1916 ~ 2014

Pat passed away peacefully on December 6, 2014 at the age of 98. She was born on September 16, 1916 to Otto and Martha Glauser Iseli in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was raised in Salt Lake during the depression and went to work as a housemaid, cook and nanny at the age of 14. She was a hard worker all of her life. She married Karl Ehlers on Christmas Day in 1935. They drove to Layton during a snow storm to be married by the Justice of Peace. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Karl died in 1980. During WWII she worked in the PX at Ft. Douglas. For a time, she owned and operated the Holladay Café on Holladay Blvd, making 20 pies a day without help. After selling the café, she worked as a cook and waitress in and around Salt Lake and Holladay. They bought their first home in Cottonwood Heights in 1954, and she lived there for 56 years. In 2010 she moved into Olympus Ranch Independent Living, where she made many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Karl, daughter-in-law Paulette, siblings Fred, Pearl Gord, Lillian Kinsman, Curtis, and Bill. She is survived by her brother Ralph Iseli, son David (Lael), grandchildren Traci, Sheri, David II, Chip, Jason, Travis and Ryan, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Many thanks to the friends at Olympus ranch who were so concerned for her and stopped by constantly to check on her. Also Many thanks to Envision Health Care and Hospice whom cared so unconditionally at all times.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. A viewing will be held prior to services from 12:00 noon ‚ 1:45 p.m. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
