Stanley Richins Francis

Stanley Richins Francis, passed away peacefully in Layton, Utah on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born on May 19, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alonzo Christofferson Francis and Lenore Amy Francis. Married Sue Anne Dubach on September 12, 1961, later divorced. He met Millie Kay Calder on a blind date whom he later married on August 18, 1966 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived in East Millcreek for 15 years before finally settling in Farmington, Utah.

Stan was the owner of Aero-Graphics, Inc., an aerial survey company located in Salt Lake City. He was a brilliant businessman with tremendous drive and vision. He purchased the company in 1974 with little hope of its survival. Through his self-sacrifice and determination, the company flourished and continues today as one of the premier aerial mapping companies in the nation. Stan loved the outdoors and owned properties in Central and Eastern Utah where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent many autumn days hunting deer with friends and family on the Francis Ranch near his childhood home in Morgan. Stan was an avid golfer and coin collector. He also loved watching his Utes hammer BYU in football and basketball and was always devising great sports bets for his next willing victim.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Kay of Farmington, UT; brother John Richins Francis (Elaine) of Sandy, UT; sister Julie Skousen (Myron) of SLC, UT; daughters Dusty Edwards (John) of Chandler, AZ and Denise Nielson (Geoff) of Sandy, UT; sons Kelly Calder Francis (Amy) of Fruit Heights, UT and Casey Calder Francis (Nicole) of Kaysville, UT; 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Whitehead and brother, Allan Alonzo Francis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2nd from 11:00am to noon in the Somerset Ward building at 1885 Summerwood Drive, Farmington,Utah. Friends may call Friday morning at the Somerset Ward building from 10:00 to 11:00am. Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery at 500 South 200 East.
