Reed Holdaway Jr.

1922 ~ 2018

Reed Holdaway Jr., born Dec. 2, 1922, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 and was reunited with Dorian, the love of his life, on Nov. 23, 2018.

Reed was born in Oakland, CA, but was raised in Denver, CO. He graduated from North High School in 1941. Reed was drafted into the U.S. Army on Dec 29, 1942, he served in the 37th combat engineers, serving in Africa and Sicily where he was wounded. He received a Purple Heart.

Reed could make anything! He was a machinist and mechanical engineer. He worked for Martin/Marietta. He also bought real estate property and remodeled homes. He had a love of big band music, dancing, fast cars, traveling and spending time with his family.

Reed was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions, He also served with Dorian in the Jordan River Temple for over 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Reed Holdaway Sr. and Mary Juanita Crawford Holdaway and his wife Dorian Frost Holdaway.

He is survived by his 3 children Carly (Wren) Neuway, Rick (Dana) Holdaway, Nita (Dennis) Orgill, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dimple Dell Park Ward, 9880 South 3100 East. Viewings will take place on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd (10600 South) and on Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Ward. Interment at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Sandy, UT.
