Patricia Ann Kershaw (Strong) 90, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on July 27, 2015, due to complications associated with her age. She was born November 1, 1924 in Garfield Utah, and later moved to Salt Lake City with her family. She graduated from West High School in 1941. On April 11, 1947 Patricia married Jack T. Strong of Alpine Utah. Although they later divorced, together they had and raised three sons; Steven Jack (Thanida), Issaquah, WA; David James- deceased (Barbara) North Salt Lake, UT; Thomas Neal (Lorna) West Jordan, UT.

Like her mother Patricia enjoyed music. Early in her marriage to Jack she joined and Sweet Adelines International singing group, a traveling group of women singers that specialize in barbershop harmony. She also formed her own barbershop quartet that performed whenever possible. Mom was a very good cook, and the Strong family always looked forward to her lemon meringue and cherry pies during the holiday season. However; if Mom had a hobby it would have been shopping. Her greatest enjoyment was shopping and buying; it didn\t matter what she was shopping for or for whom she might buy, as long as she was shopping she was happy. This was very evident at her passing as she had items she had purchased around Christmas that were still piled on her bed waiting to be wrapped and shipped to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom had a great memory. She never seemed to forget a birthday or anniversary and seemed to always remember everyone\s names and how they were related to her and her family. Her children believe she did this to feed her shopping habit.

Patricia served as a Union Steward for the American Federation of Government Employees (A.F.G.E.) at the Veterans Hospital, in Salt Lake City, at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., at Fort Myer Virginia with the Military Traffic Management Command until her retirement in 1994. Upon her retirement she continued to serve others in her many calling as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a small branch of the Church on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. In 2003, after the death of her second husband, Doug Kershaw, she returned home to Utah.

Patricia is survived by her children Steven Strong (Thanida); daughter-in-law Barbara Sheffield (widow of David Strong); Thomas Strong (Lorna); Stephen Kershaw (Kay); Jackie Kershaw ( widow of John Kershaw); William Kershaw (Barbara); Larkann Kershaw Hollister (Dick); Cindi Kershaw deCapiteau (Ted) and Becky Kershaw Gill (Robert); 29 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by her parents Fay and Myrna Hardy; son David James Strong; son John Kershaw; daughter and son-in-law Margret Kershaw and John Emerick; ex-husband Jack Thorne Strong; and husband Douglas H. Kershaw.

Services will be held Monday, August 3rd, 2:00 P.M. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. Friends may visit two hours prior to the services.
