Sally Gerbich

1952 ~ 2018

Sally Gerbich of West Jordan, Utah passed away on July 28, 2018 from complications of a stroke she suffered on July 24, 2018.

Sally was born on December 23, 1952 to Lawrence Arthur Schoenrock and Mary Bernice Jensen. Mom couldn't wait to get into this world and was born in the back seat of her parent's car in the hospital parking lot. She had a wonderful childhood in California and loved playing volleyball, stickball, and riding her bike around town with her brother, Kenneth Lawrence Schoenrock, and their dog, Butch.

Mom's life long struggle with her back problems began around age 9 and she had her first spine surgery at age 11. Mom spent two years out of school in a body cast, but she never complained, and her cousins remember how good natured she was about the ordeal. When Mom was a teenager the family moved from California to Provo, Utah and mom graduated from Provo High School.

After graduating she married George Ross Whitlock and together they had four children, Jeff (Cassie), Lisa, Chad, Chelsea (Jason). Mom married Gary Gerbich on August 4, 2001. Mom enjoyed traveling and always requested we send photos on our travels, so she could live vicariously. Mom hated camping but went anyway.

Sally is survived by her children, three step-children, Pete, Casey (Marcy), Matthew (Katy), and three grandchildren whom she doted on and loved immensely, Jessica (Evan), Tom, and Zachary and six step-grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Mom loved to keep a clean and beautiful house and often stated "I will not feel guilty about having a clean home." Mom really, really, loved to vacuum and heaven will be a much cleaner place now.

Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing Wednesday evening, August 1, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary of Riverton, 3688 W 12600 S, Riverton, Utah. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 S State St, Provo, UT.
