Preston G. Adams

1924 ~ 2015

Preston G. Adams, "Pres," beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away at home, January 15, 2015. Pres was born May 31, 1924 to Luella Nebeker and Orval W. Adams in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Pres was a WWII veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in the 35th Infantry Division. He served a mission to the Northwestern States. He attended the University of Utah and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. At the University of Utah, he met his eternal sweetheart, Carol Thorson. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, June 8, 1950.

Pres was a successful businessman. He was elected by his peers as President of the Leaders Association for New England Life insurance Company.

Pres loved playing tennis, golf, snow skiing, waterskiing and spending time at Bear Lake. Most all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He frequently took his grandchildren to Hogle Zoo, which they called "Grandpa's Zoo."

Pres loved the Lord Jesus Christ and instilled in each of his children the importance of living the gospel every day. He served in two bishoprics and on a Stake High Council. He and Carol served a Mission as Directors of the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in San Diego. They, also, served as workers in the Salt Lake Temple.

Pres is survived by his wife, Carol, daughters: Linda (Doug) DeVore, Sharon (Ron) Nelson and son, Stephen (Heather) Adams, 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pres was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Susan and his five brothers: Allan, Lane, Hyrum, Ted and Web.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, January 26 at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 S. Wasatch Dr. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., Sunday, January 25 from 6-8 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the church. Interment will take place at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street.
