Diane McMaster McCoun

1929 ~ 2017

Diane McMaster McCoun, born to J. Stuart and Clara Watkins McMaster October 23, 1929, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 4, 2017. She was always the apple of her daddy's eye and the other love of his life. She lived her life in a gentle, graceful way, finding joy no matter the situation. She attended East High School and the University of Utah.

She always maintained that the greatest blessing in her life was her loving, caring family. She is survived by: daughters, Melinda (Alberto) Sigüenza, Annee McCoun, Laurie (Peter) Hotlosz, and Jennifer (Robert) Payne, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, brother, Brent W. McMaster (Diane) and sister in law, Karen McMaster. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas W. McMaster and John S. McMaster.

Born into a musical family, she always felt this gift of music was a great blessing in her life, whether leading a choir, chorister, accompanist, vocal teacher, or performing with her mother and sister in law, Karen for church and community functions. She always felt that love and music were the same, and if you had music in your heart, you would always be loved. She was part of a local performing group called "We Three" for over 20 years. Music was a joyous, comforting and positive influence in her life.

As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in all the auxiliaries of the church and held positions on both ward and stake levels. Her talents and love of youth was evident through her calling as a Young Women's counselor in her ward at the tender age of 82.

Her love of beautiful children's clothes led her into the world of business opening her own children's boutique "McMaster's Wee Things". She worked as the Corporate Manager of the Wedding Registry at ZCMI, and was employed at Valley Mental Health for many years and served as a volunteer at Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Diane's family wishes to express our deepest gratitude for the kind and gracious care given to our mother in her last moments by Hearts for Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Breast Cancer Research in Diane's name.
