Hardy Joseph Rogers

1920 ~ 2016

Hardy passed away peacefully at age 95. He was born the second son of eight children to Crockett W. and Martha H. Rogers in Mangum, Oklahoma. Shortly after birth, the family came to Salt Lake City, Utah where he lived in the same home through Webster Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High School and West High School graduating in 1938. He went to LDS Business College receiving a BS in Accounting. After serving in WWII as a navigator he continued his Air Force correspondence and retired as a Lt. Colonel. Met and married Virginia Jane Logan on November 7, 1945. He worked for the Federal Reserve Bank for 25 years as the Head of Fiscal and Bonds. He worked at the State Liquor Commission for a short time, then was an Auditor for the State Tax Commission until he retired. Hardy enjoyed working in his yard at his avenues home with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing with Ginny and fishing with his two younger brothers.

Hardy is survived by his two daughters, Patricia R. (Jim) Broadwell and Deborah J. Rogers, and three younger brothers, Bert, Jerry and Dale Rogers. He has many nieces and nephews as well as six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Rogers, his parents, Crockett W. and Martha Rogers, as well as two brothers, Lilburn (Joy C.), Willard Rogers and two sisters, Marion Farnsworth and Ruth Moss. Jaki Lyn Clute, daughter to Jim and Pat Broadwell, also passed away six months before her grandfather.
