Norma King Atwood

1926 ~ 2015

Norma King Atwood, age 89, passed away in the home that she loved on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 surrounded by those she loved, those that loved her. Norma was born on the first day of spring, March 20, 1926 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Thomas Ervin King and Mable Clark King. She met her future husband, John Rae Atwood, at Pleasant Grove High School. They later married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 15, 1944.

She raised a family of five children. She was famous for her homemade soup ,gravy, spice cake and her much anticipated Christmas Cookie Parties. She was devoted to her husband and he was devoted to her. Their marriage was a perfect match and example to her family. Norma loved serving and has been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She adored her children, 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and they dearly loved her. She will be greatly missed.

Survived by her sister Dorothy Pace, sons John (Janene) and Mark (Sydney), daughters Patricia Atwood, Lisa (Patrick) Davies and Linda (David) Winnie. Preceded in death by hers parents, brothers Clark, Grant, Dale and Harold, sisters Shirley Huffaker and Audrey Jackson, granddaughters Kylie Davies and Trisha Thurber.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Granite View Stake Center, 9880 South 3100 East. Viewings will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) and Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
