Susan (Sue) Collom passed away peacefully March 3, 2014. She was born in Elmira, New York on April 19, 1941. She has lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Wyoming and for the last 41 years in Salt Lake City, Utah. For many years she was a teacher in the Jordan School District. She was an avid reader and collector of fantasy creatures. Spending long summer days tending her many gardens and making specialty crafts were things that gave her great joy. Some of her most cherished memories were of time spent with her husband fishing on the lake.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David A. Collom. Sue is survived by her son Kurt Collom and his wife Darlene, son Craig Collom and his wife Adrienne, daughter Kris Jansen and husband Ken and son Eric Collom and his wife Kimber. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Caitlyn, Mary Beth, Nicholas, Emily, Paige, Kevin, Megan and Madison.
The family will receive visitors and friends on Thursday, March 6, 2014, in the church parish hall at St. James Episcopal Church 7486 Union Park Avenue, Midvale, Utah at 2:00 with the service to follow at 3:00. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to The American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children\s Research Hospital.
