Ronald Floyd Nielsen

1971 ~ 2017

Ronald Floyd Nielsen, 45, returned to his Father in Heaven after passing away suddenly and unexpectedly due to heart complications. Ron, the son of Floyd and Trudy Nielsen grew up in Taylorsville, UT and then later Draper, UT. Ron and Alison, with their family, lived in Anchorage, Alaska for the past 15 years.

Ron was active in 4-H Club work for 10 years. He enjoyed raising and showing beef, swine and sheep at various county and state fairs across the state of Utah. He was a excellent showman.

He graduated from Alta High School and then served an LDS mission for two years in the Chile Santiago South mission. After returning home and while attending Utah State University he met Alison, the love of his life, who became his eternal companion when they married on July 17, 1993 in the Jordan River Temple. They moved to Portland Oregon for seven years where Ron attended school at Portland State University and then went on to earn his D.M.D. in dentistry at Oregon Health Sciences University. He enjoyed surfing and fishing in Oregon.

Ron was an Eagle Scout and served in various calling in the LDS church including Sunday School President, Young Mens Presidency, Ward Mission Leader, Elders Quorum President, Ward Clerk and Councilor in the Branch Presidency.

Ron was happiest when he was serving others. He was kind, gentle, patient, generous, and selfless to others. Alaska fulfilled Ron's joy for the outdoors in fishing, hiking, riding snow machines and ATV's. He loved sharing the beauty of Alaska with close family and friends and often planned trips for them to come visit. His desire to serve others along with a wonderful and supportive staff helped him establish a successful dental practice, "Alaska Smiles", which became a big part of his life.

Ron loved his family dearly. He was a loving husband and a great provider and his children meant everything to him. Their favorite things were going to Hawaii, playing games and that he could never say no to them. They had their daddy wrapped around their little fingers. He also loved his parents and siblings and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. He and Alison also loved to travel and had the opportunity to take their family to visit many interesting places around the world.

He leaves behind his wife Alison Evanson, and their children Adam (currently serving an LDS mission in the Philippines), Sarah, Rachel and Hannah. He also leaves behind his parents Floyd and Trudy, three brothers and a sister - Chad (Tracy), Angie (Clark), Todd (Bridgette), Dustin (Alisha) and Alison's family - Jerold and Pat Evanson ,Michelle (Marc), Justin (Amy), Missy (Miles) and Johnny (Ashley) and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
