Mildred Judd Koenig

1919 ~ 2016

Hurricane, Utah ‚ Mildred Judd Koenig, 97, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend died peacefully at her daughters home surrounded by angels and members of her family on March 10, 2016. She was born on January 29, 1919 in St. George, Utah to James Judd and Della Maud MacFarlane Judd. Mildred married her sweetheart, Herbert Henry Koenig, on August 17, l942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Seven children were born to this union, Kay, Dana Lynne, Mitzi Ann, Douglas, Jane, Debbie, and Patty.

Mildred's parents helped to settle the community of LaVerkin, Utah, building one of the first brick homes in that community. Mildred as a young girl traveled with her family to Provo, Utah, where she graduated from high school. She attended BYU before traveling with her family to Australia, where her father was mission president. After returning from Australia she attended BYU's Nursing Program where she graduated with the class of 1944. Mildred and her husband raised six of their seven children to adulthood while they both worked hard to provide for their children. Mildred worked at the LDS Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse for 25 years. After retirement in l980 they loved traveling the world and boating at Lake Powell until their health no longer permitted.

Herb, Mildred's sweetheart has been patiently waiting for her, since October of 2012. Once again they are reunited. Mildred is survived by her six daughters: Kay Ruiz, Dana Lynne (Jim) Stratton, Mitzi Ann Moyeda, Jane (Al) Sieverts, Debbie (Wayne) Sinclair, and Patty (Lance) Talcott, 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Douglas, sister Florence Warner, brothers James (Mac) Judd and Finley Judd, and grandchildren Blake Sieverts, Crystal Talcott and Brandy Talcott

Mildred's family would like to thank the angels at Encompass Hospice for the special care of their mother. A very special appreciation is given for her loving nurse, Jill, who remained by her side until the very end.

A visitation will be held at Larkin Mortuary, located at 260 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City, on Saturday, March 19, at 12:30 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn located at 3401 S. Highland Drive.
