Jo Anne Harvey

1942 ~ 2015

A kind, gentle soul quietly left us on September 3, 2015. She is now finally free from the afflictions of breast cancer and other physical limitations.

Jo Anne was born in Denver, CO on April 25, 1942 to Max and Norma Peterson Mangum, their 3rd child. When she was 5 years old, she moved with her family to Salt Lake City. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1960, and then attended the University of Utah.

She married Jeff Perkins and they had a wonderful son, Michael Gregory Perkins. They later divorced. She was married to Byron Harvey for 15 years, later divorced.

She worked at Snowbird for a while and grew to love the mountains even more, and always dreamed of living up there in a cabin. She and a partner had a conveyor belt scraping business, Daynum, in Pittsburgh that frequently took her down into the coal mines. She loved that part of the country, but after several years, she returned to SLC.

Her favorite garden duty was pruning any shrub or tree she could reach with those loppers! She treasured the monthly Koffee Klatches with her brother David, her sister Wendy and brother-in-law, Eric, where the four of them discussed and solved the problems of the world! She so loved all of our family get-togethers. She will be missed by her Prayer Circle friends who meant so much to her.

She was so athletic - she loved playing tennis, golf, scuba diving, snowmobiling, water and snow skiing and was a beautiful ice skater. Jo was a figure skating judge with the Utah Figure Skating Club for 48 years, the Cottonwood Heights Figure Skating Club for several years and a member of the US Figure Skating Association for 50 years. She especially loved working with the young children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother; David and brother-in-law; Eric Perks. Survived by her son; Greg Perkins, grandson; Jake Perkins, sister; Wendy Perks, nephews; Christopher Rowe (Heidi), Aaron Mangum (Jeanne) and niece; Nina Mangum.

Per her wishes, there will be no services. Condolences may be expressed at www.LarkinMortuary.com

She had a beautiful impact on everyone who knew her; she will remain in our hearts forever. Jo Anne, now you can run with the wind!
