Cheryl L. Arbon

1943 ~ 2019

Cheryl L. Arbon passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on November 28th, 1943 in Salt Lake City at Holy Cross Hospital. She grew up in Salt Lake proper and was a proud graduate of East High School. She was a straight-A student and a talented violinist. Cheryl met Borge West at a bowling alley and later married him on June 13, 1964 resulting in 19 years of marriage. Their two children, Gavin and Chanel, remained her greatest sense of pride and comfort throughout her life. Cheryl's sophisticated sense of style and love of color developed into an incredible talent for painting.

Cheryl was an eclectic woman of many talents and her paintings reflected that — paintings that spanned all genres and covered many subjects. From portraiture to landscapes, Cheryl had an eye for what soothed souls and touched hearts. Cheryl later married the love of her life, Brent Arbon, on March 5, 1986 in Reno, Nevada in an intimate ceremony. Cheryl worked many years at a jewelry business, Ray Van's, that she would eventually co-own and run with her husband until Cheryl's retirement. Cheryl had a deep, abiding love for literature and spent much of her life in pursuit of experiences and education found in the multiple books she consumed every week. Cheryl's most cherished endeavor has always been her family. She was joyfully in service to others every moment of every day, and her capacity for love left too many selfless gestures to recount. Her husband Brent remembers a vivacious woman whose uncanny luck and bright spirit saw them through 33 years of marriage and the birth of their son, Skyler, whom Cheryl referred to as her angel. She is proceeded in death by mother and father Edward and Norma Naughton, and nephew Zachary Naughton.

She is survived by her brother Paul Naughton (Libby and Michael Naughton), daughter Chanel West (Caez Barron), sons Gavin West (Naomie West) and Skyler Arbon (Kari Keone) and her seven grandchildren Jackson 23, Michaela 21, Patrick 20, Juliet 16, Roxie 14, Lola 6, Declan 4.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23rd from 1-3 PM at Larkin Sunset Lawn: 2350 East 1300 South in Salt Lake City, Utah 84108
